mParticle hosts a managed SFTP endpoint you can use to import bulk data in CSV files. To send data to the SFTP endpoint, you will need a username and password that you can create yourself from the SFTP Provisioning tab in your mParticle platform settings. Currently, one SFTP username per organization is supported, for all accounts and workspaces under that organization.

You can also use the SFTP Provisioning page to provision a new SFTP user, reset a SFTP password, or disable SFTP access.

\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Provision an SFTP user

  1. Log in to your mParticle account, click the Settings (gear) icon at the bottom of the left-hand navigation, and select Platform.

  2. From your Platform Settings, click the SFTP Provisioning tab. Here you will see your SFTP username and hostname:port for the SFTP endpoint where you can upload your CSV files.

    Click Provision Credentials.

    mParticle returns the username and a one-time password. Copy the password immediately — for security, it is shown once on this screen and cannot be retrieved later.

  5. Store the username and password in your team’s secrets manager (1Password, HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, etc.).

The drop-folder path is not displayed on this screen. It will be provided when you configure the Custom CSV Feed as described in Configure the Custom CSV Feed.

\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset a password

\n

If you’ve lost your password, you can create a new one from SFTP Provisioning:

  1. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the bottom of the left-hand navigation and select Platform. Click the SFTP Provisioning tab.

  2. Click Reset Password.

\n

mParticle generates a new password for the existing user. The previous password stops working immediately. Copy and store the new password as described above.

If you no longer need SFTP access for this organization, disable it from the same screen:

  1. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the bottom of the left-hand navigation and select Platform. Click the SFTP Provisioning tab.

Disabling deprovisions the SFTP user — SSH access is removed immediately, any active sessions are terminated, and the username and password stop working.

\n

The action is reversible. To restore SFTP access later, return to the same screen and click Provision Credentials. A new password is issued; the old one does not come back.
